We all love having that Aha! moment when we read about a genius, innovative life hack, especially when they're so simple, obvious and easily replicated.

There are so many out there for every life situation, from camping to makeup, but what about when it comes to gardening? Well you'll be happy to know, my green-thumbed friend, that there is an abundance of gardening hacks out there, and we're willing to share just a few for your benefit.

Grow Seedlings from Eggshells When you're next cooking with eggs, be careful to crack them taking only a little bit of the shell off the top. Place a bunch of these empty eggshells in an egg carton and fill with soil, then plant with seedlings. It's great for the environment as it doesn't use those little plastic containers, it looks cute and adds extra calcium to the soil. Fab!

Citrus as a Cute Planter You can also recycle your halved citrus fruit rind into a nutritious, cute and nifty planter after using your citrus.

Put a Coffee Filter at the Bottom of a Plant Pot to Prevent Water Leakage This is especially handy for indoor pot plants. We all know the frustration of watering a plant only for the water to seep out the bottom almost immediately. It can cause a mess and leave your plant feeling¦well¦drained! If potting a new plant, place a coffee filter at the bottom of the pot before filling with soil and planting the plant to avoid this issue in the future.

Plastic Forks to Prevent Predators Allegedly, placing plastic forks handle down in the soil around plants helps to prevent predators such as possums. Intriguing and bizarre, but it's said to work!

Epsom Salt and Baking Soda for Sweeter Tomatoes? Although the sweetness of tomatoes is generally genetic, there are a few things you can do to help them along the way to a sweeter taste. Mix vegetable oil, baking soda and a touch of castile soap and spray on the plants to help fight fungal infection and increase the chance of sweeter tomatoes. Epsom salt is also a great all-round fertiliser for any plant, as it helps increase nutrient absorption when added to soil and the rest of the plant.
