Common Name: New Zealand Christmas Bush

Botanical Name: Metrosideros Thomasii

 

Size

 

These plants are about 12 - 15cm in height

Each plant comes in its own 50mm (2") pot

 

This variety can grow to about 5m high and 2m wide. 

 

Description/Uses

 

A hardy small to medium, evergreen tree with leathery foliage, which in summer is covered in a mass of bright red-orange flowers. Ideal for use as a hedge or speciment tree

 

Thrives in a sunny, warm position in well drained soil and tolerates coastal exposure and periods of dryness. Ideal hedge plant or sepcimen tree, grows well in seaside gardens

Prune after flowering to maintain a compact growth. Tolerates wind and coastal areas.

  • Water well each day for 2 - 3 weeks after planting.
  • Cultivate soil before planting. Dig the hole twice the size of the pot

  • Place the plant in the hole so the soil level of the plant is the same as the surrounding ground.

  • Fill the hole firmly and water in well even if the soil is moist.
