Photos   The photo on the right is what the plants may look like when mature The photos on the left a samples of the actual stock being sold the plants you receive will be similar shape and size Item Description Name   Common Name: Japanese Buxus, Japanese Box or Japanese Boxwood Botanical Name: Buxus Microphylla Japonica   Size   These plants are about 8 - 10cm in height Each plant comes in its own 50mm (2") pot   This variety can grow to about 1.5m tall and 1m wide.    Description/Uses   Commonly used for low profile or full sized hedging and can be used for almost any landscaping application. The Buxus are among the most common hedging plants. They are especially well suited for shaping because the leaves are small and don't look ragged after trimming as do plants with larger leaves.   Some of the ways they can be used are as foundation plantings, to provide a framework for a formal garden, to outline a terrace, walkway or parking area, for planter boxes and as topiary or specimen pieces.   Care and Maintenance Low water use Semi shade to full sun Low maintenance These plants are low maintenance and hardy and prefer well mulched and well drained soil. They will need a trim about twice a year depending on the desired height and thickness of the hedge or topiary. All our plants are established in their pots and are ready to plant straight into your garden or a larger pot.   Water well each day for 2 - 3 weeks after planting. In order to make a great hedge, plant them about 25 - 30cm apart Buxus are considered a moderate grower and will put on about 20cm per year once established Place one handful of the feed or a small handful of slow release fertilizer around the new plant and give it a good trim. This will maximise growth and get best results.
