Common Name: Illawarra Flame Tree

Botanical Name: Brachychiton acerifolius

 

Size

 

These plants are about 20 - 20cm in height

Each plant comes in its own 75mm (3") pot

 

This variety can grow to about 10 - 20m tall and 5m wide. 

 

Description/Uses

 

Native to australia, this brilliant medium sized, deciduous tree has bright red flowers which are produced after the leaves are shed, the effect is that of a tree on fire hence the name flame tree

 

The flame tree is an attractive specimen tree suitable for large garden. Young plants are useful indoors

Suits coastal conditions, tropical areas and cool climtates. Keep moist during the growing months. Feed regularly with organic fertiliser or a general purpose slow release fertiliser
