Common Name: English Buxus, English Box

Botanical Name: Buxus Sempervirens

Size

These plants are about 5 - 8cm in height

Each plant comes in its own 50mm (2") pot

This variety can grow to about 2m tall and 1m wide.

Description/Uses

The English box have small, evergreen leaves which are dark green, glossy and clip beautifully, making Box plants ideal for neat, formal edging, low hedges and topiary. Box plants naturally have wonderfully compact and dense growth

A very popular ornamental plant in gardens, being particularly valued for topiary and hedges because of its tolerance of close shearing, small leaves, and scented foliage. English box is one of the most shade tolerant hedging shrubs there is; in fact, it prefers partial shade and will develop a richer tone when planted out of the full sun.

As your new hedge is reaching its desired height, you almost don't need to to trim it at all. English Box is a slow growing plant and naturally very bushy, so really be sparing with the shears or you will be in for a long wait! Just nipping off the very tip of each stem once a year is more than enough.
